Our Courses

WIDE World is dedicated to helping educators apply proven research on effective teaching and leading in their own educational environment.  Courses for teachers, teacher leaders, and school leaders support collaborative teamwork toward great teaching that engages students, dramatically enhances academic performance, and develops school systems as coherent learning organizations.

Our 13-Week online courses are divided into six two-week sessions (an initial week-long orientation session rounds out the 13-week schedule).  Our courses begin three times per year – September, February, and May.

The assignments include engaging in online discussions with other course participants, creating teaching materials, implementing new concepts in your educational environment, and providing feedback on other participants’ work.

Our courses are delivered asynchronously meaning the schedule is very flexible – participants can log on at times that are convenient for them. We organize our participants into online Study Groups which usually involve 9-10 learning teams or individuals resulting in study groups of between 15-30 learners. These 15-30 people usually represent different districts from across the United States and/or across the globe.

New Full-year Offerings:
We are pleased to now provide our cornerstone Teaching for Understanding 1 and 2 courses in a new year-long format. Ideal for teachers who are new to the classroom or seasoned professionals who require a less demanding course schedule, the year-long TfU 1 and TfU 2 courses provide the same rich content but across an extended timeframe to meet the needs of teams and individuals who might not be able to complete the course within the standard 13 week schedule.
