Course Credit

  1. Can I earn PDPs for these courses?
  2. Will I receive a certificate at the end to show course title and amount of time spent?
  3. Can I obtain graduate credit for WIDE World courses?
  4. What is the process of getting credit from a local university?

  1. Can I earn PDPs for these courses?

You can receive Professional Development Points (PDPs) based on your state and local requirements. Upon the successful completion of the course, WIDE awards a certificate of completion which shows the total number of hours earned. Many of our 6 session course offerings allow participants to earn up to a maximum of 45 maximum participation hours per course. Please note that our leadership courses, although 6 sessions in length, do not provide 45 possible hours.

  2. Will I receive a certificate at the end to show course title and amount of time spent?

Yes, but in order to receive a certificate you must earn the following minimum participation hours: (35) hours for (6) session courses; (15) hours for (2)session courses; and (35) hours for each of the two courses which make up the program of study. The maximum amount of participation hours that course participants may be awarded are: (42-45) hours for (6) session courses; (15) hours for (2) session courses; and (42-45) hours for each of the two courses, which make up the program of study. All certificate recipients will be e-mailed an electronic certificate file to the address they have registered with WIDE World at the time of their course registration. Certificate recipients can then print the certificate locally.

  3. Can I obtain graduate credit for WIDE World courses?

While Harvard University residency requirements for students do not allow for the granting of Harvard credits for WIDE World online courses, many of our learners have arranged for graduate credit for their WIDE coursework from their local universities. As examples, several WIDE World learners have secured, and continue to arrange for, graduate credit from institutions, such as:

Please check with this institution for information on how to obtain graduate credit for WIDE World courses.

  4. What is the process of getting credit from a local university?

Learners have taken the on-line course syllabus to their program for graduate credit consideration toward their degree/certificate. Upon the successful completion of the course, WIDE awards a certificate of completion which shows the total number of hours earned. Currently all of our 6 session course offerings allow participants to earn up to a maximum of 45 maximum participation hours per course. Please note that our 2 session course offerings allow participants to earn up to a maximum of 15 maximum participation hours per course. In addition, learners take the course syllabus along with the certificate to the organization responsible for evaluating and granting credit locally. Since WIDE courses do not currently offer academic credit, we are unable to provide a transcript at this time.
